Parents Will Begin Receiving the Child Tax Credit Starting on July 15

Miranda Perry Fleischer, Professor of Law and Co-Director of Graduate Tax Programs, can provide insight on what parents need to know about the Child Tax Credit and what this will mean for filing taxes next year.

No Spectators at the Olympics

Olympics organizers will ban spectators from the games in Tokyo, after Japan declared a state of emergency amid rising Covid-19 cases. Nadav Goldschmied, Professor of Psychological Sciences, can speak on whether having no fans in the stands will impact athletes’ performances.   

USD Law Graduate's Firearms Bill Goes Before the Senate Public Safety Committee Today

USD School of Law graduate, Marcus Friedman '21, wrote Assembly Bill 1057 which is being heard by the Senate Public Safety Committee today before it is brought to the Senate floor. The bill is looking to increase the scope of the types of firearms, including ghost guns, that can be seized for emergency Gun Violence Restraining Orders. The bill was also recently amended to expand the definition of firearms to include "precursor parts" for Domestic Violence Restraining Orders.

Every summer, hundreds of leopard sharks gather in the warm shallow water off La Jolla Shores Beach. Nosal and his summer research students are studying leopard sharks using drone footage. Nosal also just appeared last week in an episode of National Geographic Channel's "When Sharks Attack."
