USD School of Law Student Health Requirements

Dear {{Preferred Name}},

Please read the following message in its entirety for important information regarding the COVID-19 Vaccine, Immunization, and Student Health Insurance requirements. If you have not done so already, you will need to claim your USDOne account in order to complete all requirements.

COVID-19 VACCINE REQUIREMENT

All students must be vaccinated for COVID-19 by August 1. Visit the COVID Vaccine Student FAQ page for the most up-to-date information on this requirement. You must verify your vaccination status with Student Health. USD has organized a vaccination site on campus that operates Tuesdays-Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the West Parking Structure. There are limited drop-ins, and you can schedule an appointment through the county’s vaccination schedule. A vaccination waiver process based on medical or religious exemptions can be accessed through the Student Health Center website. Students who are granted an exemption will be subject to weekly mandatory COVID-19 testing. USD is operating a COVID-19 testing site at the Alcala West Storage Facility at 5330 Linda Vista Road with limited drop-ins and appointments scheduled online.

ADDITIONAL IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement listed above and as part of the University’s commitment to protecting the health and well-being of all our students, there are matriculation requirements for tuberculosis (TB) screening and certain immunizations. Please visit the Student Health Center website for a list of required immunizations and TB screenings, and for instructions on how to submit the mandatory TB screening questionnaire and immunization records. This information is submitted electronically through the USD MyWellness portal; please note that you will need to create your USDOne account (if you have not done so already) in order to submit the form. Failure to comply with these requirements by Friday, August 20, 2021 will result in a registration hold. Specific questions regarding the immunization requirement should be directed to the Student Health Center.

STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENT

All law students enrolled in eight (8) or more credits are required to have health insurance while enrolled at the University of San Diego. This requirement ensures that students in need of health and/or mental health care beyond the scope of services provided at USD, or in case of a medical emergency, can access the appropriate resources in the community.

At the beginning of every academic year in which you are registered for classes, the USD Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium will be charged to your USD Student Account.

To remove this charge, you can waive coverage if you already have other insurance that is comparable to the USD SHIP. If you need insurance, please review the SHIP and if it meets your needs, actively enroll as soon as possible to ensure your coverage is active by the start of classes. The due date to complete this process is Monday, September 13, 2021

Failure to enroll in or waive coverage by the published due date will result in you being automatically enrolled in the annual SHIP and responsible for paying the premium charged to your USD Student Account. Annual coverage is from August 1, 2021 - July 31, 2022. Please note that law students enrolled in fewer than eight (8) credits are NOT eligible for the requirement and CANNOT enroll in the SHIP. You will need to create your USDOne account (if you have not done so already) in order to submit the enrollment or waiver form. Students should submit any insurance related questions via the Gallagher Student Customer Service form
