Client Advocacy Tournament Tryouts
The Client Advocacy Team is looking for zealous advocates to compete in the ABA's Client Counseling Tournament to be held in February 2022.
The Client Advocacy Team will be hosting tryouts for 2Ls and 3Ls. Competitors will receive one P/F credit on their transcript. Tryouts will be held December 18, 2021 beginning at 10 am, and December 20, 2021 beginning at 6 pm, in ten minute intervals.

Spring 2022 Off Campus Federal Work Study Application is Available
Students employed in unpaid, non-profit 501(c)(3) or government agency positions this fall can apply for funding through the Federal Work Study (FWS) program.
Students must submit the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the studentaid.gov website and request FWS on their FAFSAs. They will also need to submit the Off Campus Federal Work Study Application. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at (619)260-4570 or lawaid@sandiego.edu.
Part-Time Student Survey

Mandatory Prevention Education Courses
As part of the University of San Diego’s commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community, all students are required to complete an annual online education requirement which includes the following two courses:
These interactive, two-part courses are designed to help you think about how you will actively contribute to a welcoming, respectful and thriving community. Together, these courses will empower you to make well-informed decisions and to know how to support yourself and your peers. Please note that all Law students are required to complete Part 1 of each of the two courses by October 15, 2021, and Part 2, a 45-day follow-up, by November 30, 2021. Students who do not complete these mandatory courses by the deadline(s) will be assessed a $250 noncompliance fee. Additional information about the online education requirement can be found here.

Effective Communication Across Differences: Free Virtual Series
The Law School Admission Council, the Berkeley Judicial Institute, and the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society present a free virtual workshop series "Effective Communication Across Differences." This hands-on small group program, designed to attract students across a broad spectrum of viewpoints, aims to help you hone your skills in engaging in conversations that demonstrate and request respect.
With an opportunity to interact with Ninth Circuit and District Court judges in a 1:2 judge to student ratio, and with specific exercises led only by experienced mediators, this is a program not to be missed! Apply to participate by December 30, 2021. More details here.
USD Legal Clinics: Now Accepting Spring 2022 Applications
Do an internship right here on campus. Join our on-site law office and gain skills working with actual clients on real legal cases. This is an experience that can boost your resume and prepare you for legal practice. We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2022 semester for the following direct client service clinics: Civil, Education and Disability, Entrepreneurship, Federal Tax, Immigration, State Income Tax (CA), State Sales & Use Tax (CA), Veterans, Workers' Rights, and our new Women's Legal Clinic. Summer Study Abroad Applications are now open!
The Office of Graduate and International Programs is pleased to announce that applications for the Summer 2022 Study Abroad programs are open.
The dates for Paris, France will be Tuesday, June 7, 2022 through Saturday, July 2, 2022.
The dates for London, England will be Monday, July 4, 2022 through Saturday, July 30, 2022.

Students with Food or Housing Insecurity
Any student who faces challenges in securing food or reliable housing, which may affect their academic performance, is encouraged to contact the Office of Student Affairs (Hahn University Center, 232, studentaffairs@sandiego.edu or (619) 260-4588). Law Student in Need Fund
Through the generosity of donors, the School of Law has established the Law Student in Need Fund to provide direct support for law students who are facing emergency circumstances that place in jeopardy their ability to complete their legal education. Additional funds have become available for student applicants and we are happy to announce the reopening of the Law Student in Need Fund application. Please visit the Law Student in Need Fund website for the funding guidelines and a link to the application.
Law students are also eligible to apply to the Toreros Together Emergency Fund for Students. Law students who wish to apply for this fund should first apply to the Law Student in Need Fund. If you are not fully funded or need additional resources, you can apply to the Toreros Together Emergency Fund for Students here.
Applicants may not seek funding from both the Law Student in Need Fund and Toreros Together Emergency Fund for the same expense (i.e. cannot double-dip) unless the applicant is either denied or the total cost of the expense is not fully covered by one or the other.
