Spots Available - Workers' Right Clinic
The Workers’ Rights Clinic currently has availability for four additional students this semester. There is one spot available for 2 units (100 hours of work) and three spots available for 1 unit (50 hours of work). The class time counts towards the total hours requirement. The Workers' Rights Clinic is perfect for part-time law students or students who already have a busy schedule this fall.
We welcome 2L, 3L, and 4L students to apply. The clinic provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience advising clients on employment-related legal issues, while developing practical skills in client interviewing, counseling, and legal analysis. The Clinic is led by Supervising Professor & Attorney, Maria Tapia-Hernandez, who is also a Senior Staff Attorney with Legal Aid at Work.
Clinic Details:
- Units: 1 unit (50 hours) or 2 units (100 hours)
- Class Sessions: Twice a month on Tuesdays, 5:30 pm – 8:40 pm
- Dates: 9/2, 9/16, 9/30, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4, and 11/18
- Format: Each class begins with a lecture and discussion, followed by client consultations where students, under attorney supervision, provide advice and guidance.
Students interested in applying may submit an application here. This is a great chance for students to make a meaningful impact in the community while earning academic credit.

LRC Reminders and Updates for Fall 2025
Welcome and welcome back!
Please remember that a valid campus ID card is required to enter the LRC outside of our staffed hours. All students should update their ID cards by tapping an exterior SALTO lock to ensure they have after-hours access to the LRC. If you haven’t used your ID card to swipe into the LRC in the last month, you need to update it! If your ID card doesn’t work, please visit the Campus Card office (UC 127) or call (619) 260-5999 during their business hours.
For Fall 2025, the LRC will be unlocked and staffed during the following hours: Monday: 9am – 6pm Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
Outside of the LRC’s staffed hours and on weekends, textbooks, and study rooms are available for use on a first come, first serve basis. New for Fall 2025, baskets of weekend use items such as phone chargers and white board markers will be available for in-library use! Find the baskets on the LRC reserve shelf from Friday evening to Monday morning.
If you have any questions, please contact the LRC Circulation desk at (619) 260-4542 or lrccirc@sandiego.edu.

CalFresh Program
We recognize the importance of the CalFresh Program available to eligible, enrolled students and strongly encourage all to apply. CalFresh provides food resources in the form of an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which works like a debit card. This program helps many graduate and professional students purchase groceries 12 months a year. Visit CalFresh at https://students.getcalfresh.org/ to start your application. If you have questions about eligibility or need assistance with your application, please contact a CalFresh representative. Approval is determined by CalFresh and the State of California. Please contact the USD School of Law Financial Aid Office at lawaid@sandiego.com to request a CalFresh letter to submit with your application as supporting documentation. It is also recommended to include a copy of the 25-26 FAFSA Submission Summary (The FAFSA Submission Summary summarizes the information you reported on your FAFSA form and includes your estimated eligibility for federal funding, and your Student Aid Index (SAI) received by email from the Department of Education - Federal Student Aid after submitting the FAFSA) along with the CalFresh application, and USD supporting letter.
