COVID-19 Action Team

Dear USD Campus Community:

We want to thank you for your resilience and patience in following the health and safety measures on our campus.

Yesterday, the State of California lifted its indoor mask mandate for fully vaccinated persons. However, USD’s protocols on face coverings will continue to remain in place. This means that face coverings are still required in all indoor settings while on campus for all students, staff, faculty and visitors. We will revisit this decision after spring break (March 7-11), when we expect the County of San Diego to provide us with additional guidance following their March 8 meeting.

While the campus positivity rate for COVID-19 is hovering around 2 percent, we are experiencing a significant increase in influenza on campus. We ask that you remain diligent with hand washing and other good personal hygiene to reduce your risk of getting sick. As a reminder, if you are feeling sick, please stay home.

While we will not conduct our weekly testing for those people with vaccine exemptions nor our random COVID-19 testing during spring break, we will continue both our weekly testing and random testing following spring break. Please check your email (and SPAM folder) on Friday, March 11, to see if you were selected for random COVID-19 testing the following week. The email will be from no-reply@mg.affinityassure.com” with the subject line “University of San Diego (USD) - Order Submission with Activation.” COVID-19 random testing takes place on Mondays through Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We also posted frequently asked questions and answers on our COVID-19 testing protocols, which can be reviewed here.

Once again, we will update you on our health and safety measures following the San Diego county meeting on March 8.
