Dear USD Community,
Thank you for coming together to keep our Torero family safe and healthy as we navigated the phases and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your care for each other and our common home uplifts our mission to make the world a better place. We have coordinated with and followed County of San Diego guidelines throughout the pandemic. As the County (and City of San Diego) has now eased protocols, the university is responding accordingly.
For summer and fall 2023, USD will update its COVID-19 protocols:
- Beginning June 1, 2023, COVID-19 vaccines will move from mandatory to strongly recommended, including the flu vaccine
- Some clinical areas may still require updated vaccination status per regulatory standards
- Faculty may continue to require face coverings in classrooms and labs at their discretion
- In alignment with California OSHA guidelines, employees are still required to report if they have contracted COVID-19 to Human Resources by emailing contacttracing@sandiego.edu. Contact tracing will be conducted, and appropriate close contact notifications will be sent.
- Continue to provide reasonable accommodations for higher risk students and employees
- USD will end waste water monitoring at the end of the spring 2023 semester
USD will continue to monitor the situation and be prepared to pivot if the environment dictates to do so. Please follow the Onward USD website for any updates and reference the County of San Diego website for more information about vaccines and vaccination locations.
Sincerely,
Ky Snyder Vice President and Chief Operations Officer
