Governor Newsom Extends Drought Emergency-- What Does it Mean for San Diegans?

Governor Newsom recently issued a proclamation that extended the drought emergency statewide, adding San Diego County which was previously not listed in the drought state of emergency. Zhi-Yong Yin, professor of environmental and ocean sciences, can provide insight on why San Diego was added to the drought emergency, how our county stacks up water-wise against other counties and why winter La Niña conditions could impact the drought.

U.S. Economy may be Facing Another Recession

According to new research, the U.S. economy may be facing another recession within the next six months. Alan Gin, associate professor of economics, can provide insight into this new study and moves for consumers to make now to protect their assets.

In honor of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Martiza Johnson, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Civil Society at the University of San Diego, can share an overview of what data privacy looks like right now, how consumers can protect their data and ways that businesses can strategize to create the best data security measures.

Organized Crime and Violence in Mexico: 2021 Special Report

This week, Justice in Mexico, a research and public policy organization based at the University of San Diego, is releasing its Organized Crime and Violence in Mexico: 2021 Special Report. This study builds on 10 years of reports published by Justice in Mexico under the title Drug Violence in Mexico, compiling the most recent data and analysis of crime, violence, and rule of law in Mexico to help inform government officials, policy analysts, and the general public.
