USD Votes Celebrates Success
|
USD Votes, a non-partisan committee composed of students, faculty and staff, focused on increasing civic awareness and voter participation among the USD community has been recognized for increasing student voter turnout to 76% during the 2020 presidential election. The Institute for Democracy and Higher Education's National Student Learning, Voting, and Engagement study (NSLVE) conducted by Tufts University measured student participation in national elections across roughly 1,200 colleges and universities. USD was above the national average of 66% for participating colleges and universities. Casey Dominguez, PhD, professor of political science, can speak about the importance for college students' involvement in the election process.
