Women in Data Science San Diego @ USD

Women in Data Science (WiDS) San Diego @ USD is being held virtually on Monday, March 7th. The conference will feature presentations and panel discussions highlighting how women in data science are professionally and personally navigating the impact of the pandemic. The presentations and panels will bring together women representing both industry and academia in the San Diego data science community. A goal of the event is to help build a strong, supportive network of data scientists in our region. Andrea Godfrey Flynn, associate professor of marketing, is available to speak about the importance of this event and the importance of women in the data science field. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Children's Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego's School of Law and the California Probation Resource Institute Release Juvenile Justice Report

Jessica Heldman, professor in residence in child rights and Melanie Delgado, senior staff attorney at the Children’s Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego's School of Law, collaborated with the California Probation Resource Institute (CaPRI) on a report that looked at how the juvenile justice system in California has changed over the past 25 years. The report, entitled “The Evolution of Juvenile Justice and Probation Practices in California found that the policy and practice developments of the past 25 years correspond with a significant decrease in juvenile offending and incarceration. The researchers are available to discuss the report.
