The latest GDP report shows the U.S. economy shrank again, fueling recession fears. Alan Gin, associate professor of economics, can provide insight into whether a recession is on the horizon. He can also provide advice for consumers to protect their finances.

Recent U.S. Supreme Court Decisions and What Could Come Next at the State-Level?
|
Robert Schapiro, Dean and C. Hugh Friedman Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law, is available to discuss the recent landmark rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court and the likely responses from the states. Some of the Court’s decisions, such as the Dobbs case on abortion, newly empower states. Other decisions, such as the gun ruling in Bruen, place new limits on state authority. Still other decisions, such as West Virginia v. EPA, impose novel restrictions on federal authority. The states already are responding to all of these decisions.

USD School of Law Launches Housing Rights Project to Provide Legal Help for Low-Income and Undocumented Tenants
|
The USD School of Law Legal Clinics launched a new Housing Rights Project connected to the university’s Civil Clinic. The Housing Rights Project will focus on providing education, outreach and direct client representation to serve the legal needs of low-income and undocumented tenants facing housing instability and homelessness. Alysson Snow, leader of the Housing Rights Project, can discuss more about the role of the Housing Rights Project in the community, current projects in the works and how law students will also get hands-on experience working with these clients.

Applications Open for The Nonprofit Institute at USD's Prestigious Kaleidoscope Award for Good Governance
|
Any San Diego-based nonprofit can apply for the 2023 Kaleidoscope Award for Good Governance and the winner(s) will be announced in January. The award recognizes up to three organizations - small, mid-sized, and large - for the exceptional work of their boards in providing crucial leadership, guidance, and oversight to the nonprofits they serve. Emily Young, Executive Director of The Nonprofit Institute, can speak about the award as well as all of the other opportunities The Nonprofit Institute offers to San Diego nonprofit organizations to help meet community needs.
