September is International Update Your Resume Month -- Tips to Revamp Your Resume from a Career Development Expert

A recent report from ADP, found "private sector employment increased by 132,000 jobs in August and annual pay was up 7.6%." As more jobs are added into the job market, what are some tips for people to revise their resume to stand out from other applications? During "International Update Your Resume Month," Matt Yepez, Senior Director of the Career Development Center, is available to discuss the importance of investing time into building a resume, how to modify your resume to match the job you're applying for and how to give a full picture of yourself as a candidate by adding extra elements like volunteer work. 

What's Next with Inflation and Potential Interest Rate Hikes?

At a recent economic policy symposium, Chair of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell discussed price stability and bringing inflation back down to a 2 percent goal. With inflation rates already at an all-time high, Dan Roccato, clinical professor of finance, can explain how many more times we might see interest rates rise, why the previous interest rate hikes haven't made an immediate impact on inflation just yet and what consumers can do, financially, to be prepared for future interest rate increases and ongoing inflation. 

Virtual Fall Classes Offered for Adults 55+ Years Old Through USD Program for "Life-Long Learners"

USD is hosting virtual fall workshops and seminars for local residents 55 years and older in the U3A program (University of Third Age) -- the longest-running community outreach program on campus. These “life-long learners” explore a new topic each day from a diverse speaker lineup during the 4-day course which will run during September, October and November. The program also offers a weekly technology workshop to provide educational tips for attendees to feel more confident using technology.

September 11 Memorial

9/11 Remembrance and Interfaith Prayer for Peace

 

On Friday, September 9, the University of San Diego community will hold a remembrance ceremony for the nearly 3,000 people lost tragically on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial in front of the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. University President James T. Harris III will attend. NROTC students will lead the event that will include a moment of silence, the playing of taps, interfaith prayers for peace and a musical reflection from USD's Choral Scholars.
