Tuesday, Sept. 20th is National Voter Registration Day

With the 2022 midterm elections less than two months away, National Voter Registration Day works to get more Americans registered so they can cast their vote in upcoming elections. Casey Dominguez, political science and international relations professor, can share more on the importance of National Voter Registration Day, tips for people to get registered and share how she and USD students are working to register students to vote. Washington Monthly recently named USD as one of America’s Best Colleges for Student Voting. In fact, 76.3% of USD students registered and voted in 2020, thanks, in part, to the work of Dominguez and the USD committee, USD Votes.

What's Next After Governor Newsom Signed New Climate Change Legislation Last Week?

Last week, Governor Newsom signed 40 climate change-focused pieces of legislation, which included codifying mandates to achieve statewide carbon neutrality no later than 2045, achieve interim targets in 2035 and 2040 to achieve the 100% clean electricity target in 2045 along with planning and building the transmission, amongst other initiatives. Joe Kaatz, staff attorney at USD's Energy Policy Initiatives Center, is available to discuss the next steps after the signing of this legislature, what will need to be done to reach these goals and how California is setting a precedent for strong green policies.

Friday, Sept. 23rd is Education Technology Day

The Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education at USD’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences is focused on advancing innovation and equity in K-20 education by engaging in pioneering research and evaluation and developing innovative curriculum and technologies.
