National Women's Small Business Month: Tips for Women Entrepreneurs to Avoid "Tightroping" to Fit in at Work
|
Tara Ceranic Salinas, professor of business ethics, has been doing research to help women by focusing on the impact of a term she coined called, "tightroping”. "Tightroping" is used to describe how women feel the need to balance themselves on a tightrope to fit in at the workplace. Ceranic Salinas noticed this unhealthy balance within herself, and other female colleagues, and decided to write a book on the topic. Ceranic Salinas can share how the narratives women are told can hold them back at work, how the idea of work-life balance needs shifting and ways companies can develop a more welcoming, inclusive corporate culture. She was also featured on the USD Media Relations Team’s podcast to discuss this topic.
