Is There a “Superbloom” on the Horizon?

After all the rainfall we’ve received lately, there’s been a lot of speculation about whether Southern California will see a “superbloom” in the weeks and months ahead. It may not be about how much rain we get, though, but when we get it. USD biology professor Michael Mayer specializes in botany. He can talk about the conditions that cause superbloom, what makes it “super,” and how drought affects future blooms.

USD Partners with the San Diego Public Library to Celebrate Black History Month & Hosts Author Candice Marie Benbow

The University of San Diego and the San Diego Public Library are hosting author Candice Marie Benbow at USD’s campus for a discussion of her book, “Red Lip Theology” on Monday, February 27 from 6:45 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. at USD’s Copley Library. According to the author, “Red Lip Theology” is an essay collection that “invites us to discover freedom in a progressive Christian faith that incorporates activism, feminism and radical authenticity” while also “promoting freedom, self-love and divine wholeness for Black women.” The event is free and open to the public.
