If you're interested in the stories below, or need experts for any other topic you might be working on, don't hesitate to reach out to us at press@sandiego.edu.*

What’s Next as Title 42 Ends?

The Title 42 public health order ends May 11 after being enacted during the pandemic. With that change, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will shift back to following Title 8 immigration protocol. Tammy Lin, Supervising Attorney at the University of San Diego (USD) Legal Clinics' Immigration Clinic, can discuss what this change will look like legally and what we can expect as this shift happens.

USD Students Volunteer at Local Middle School to Provide Garden Therapy to Students - Part of California’s College Corps Program Which Provides Students with $10k for Community Service Work

95 USD students spent the last year volunteering throughout San Diego County as a part of the first cohort of Californians for All College Corps Fellows program which provides undeserved college students with up to $10,000 for completing a year of community service. 8-10 College Corps Fellows were actively working with Montgomery Middle School students on Fridays in the school’s garden therapy program. The garden therapy program provides students with hands-on gardening work as a form of stress-relief and horticulture therapy. The partnership with College Corps and Montgomery Middle School helped the middle school’s program thrive with extra hands to help their students in the garden therapy program. And, for the USD students, the students have gained a sense of leadership in this role and it has also opened up new opportunities and interests for them as they begin their career journey post-graduation. B-roll and interviews with the USD students  and the garden coordinator can be found here.
