New Report Reveals NAVWAR's Impact on the Local Economy

During an event Tuesday at USD, the San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC) and the University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business released their 2024 Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) Economic Impact Report. The report, which was compiled by USD researchers, explains the significant impact NAVWAR has upon our region’s economy. USD researchers are available to speak about the report's findings.

Black History Month: Empowering Black Women to Use Their "Cultural Capital" to Excel Confidently at Work
|
During the month of February, the U.S. celebrates the history and achievements of African Americans during Black History Month. However, a recent report on Women in the Workplace isn't celebratory. The report found that for every 100 men promoted into manager positions, fewer women were promoted. And, out of those women – black women were promoted the least, compared to other women of color. And when it comes to fitting into a company's culture, black women were three times more likely than their counterparts to have to code switch at work. Rhonda Harley, assistant dean of student engagement and inclusive excellence, studies how we can use our "cultural capital," or our unique backgrounds and experiences, to show up authentically at work and feel empowered to grow in our workplaces.

February is Heart Health Awareness Month
|
February is known as American Heart Month or Heart Health Awareness Month. According to the CDC, heart disease is still the leading cause of death in the United States. But there are some simple things you can do to keep your heart healthy. Dr. Pedro Colio is a clinical associate professor at USD, and an expert in cardiology. He can talk about ways you can manage your heart health. Dr. Colio is also available to do interviews in Spanish.
