Bill Aims to Improve Mental Healthcare Access, Representation
Many healthcare experts have raised the alarm in recent years, suggesting there's a growing mental health crisis in our country. That crisis touches everyone in our communities, stretching across racial and socio-economic lines. But a newly proposed bill says people in some communities don't have the same access to mental healthcare, or representation in the field, and aims to fix that by expanding training at the graduate level. Carrie Tremble, clinical director of USD's Tele-Mental Health Clinic, can talk about the ACCESS in Mental Health Act, some of the mental health issues our society is facing, and why representation in health care is important.

Earth Month: Students Use a New Sustainable Approach to Presenting Research
This week, undergraduates will be presenting their research during USD's Creative Collaborations Undergraduate Research Conference using the PechaKucha format – a new sustainable effort that eliminates the printing of 100+ posters that are then thrown away. Students will use a short presentation format, with six slides that automatically advance after 20 seconds, which helps to facilitate public engagement and collaboration without the waste. Rae Robertson Anderson, associate provost and professor of physics and biophysics, is available to talk about the innovative sustainable aspect of the event.

At the Edge of it All Podcast: A Former White House Communications Director on Crisis Management
Crisis management is about preparation. That's one of the big takeaways from our talk with Corinne Hoare, lecturer of marketing at USD, who joined "At the Edge of It All" to discuss her wide-ranging career and crisis communications. Doing your homework and having a plan in place is key, Hoare said, to being prepared for situations that threaten to upend you or your business. She talked about what it was like to work in communications at the White House, and the pressure that entailed, and what she's teaching future leaders about how to handle a crisis. You can listen to the podcast episode here.
