A new study reveals that the rate Earth is warming hit an all-time high in 2023. It found 92% of last year’s record-shattering heat was caused by humans. States Targeting ‘Addictive’ Social Media Features

A new report suggests New York is poised to announce new legislation that would require social media companies to get parental consent to serve algorithmic feeds to minors. It would be the latest bill -- including one in California -- aimed at preventing addictive social media features from being used on children. Ed Howard is the senior counsel for the Children's Advocacy Institute at USD. He can talk about the growing trend of lawmakers targeting how social media companies interact with children, and what exactly these kinds of bills would address.

Recruiting Young People to Help Their Peers Struggling With Mental Health Issues
|
Youth Mental Health Corps, a new first-of-its-kind initiative, will address the country’s mental health crisis among children by recruiting young volunteers to work in helping their peers who are struggling with mental health issues. It will launch this fall in four states, and will expand to include California in 2025. Carrie Tremble, professor of practice, is available to speak on the growing mental health conditions among children and ways for parents to help their kids cope.
