Scammers Targeting CrowdStrike Customers

It's been a few days since the CrowdStrike global tech outage and now scammers are starting to target those who were potentially affected. Researchers are now issuing warnings about attackers registering domain names and setting up websites for "CrowdStrike Support" scams to target CrowdStrike's customers. Nikolas Behar, professor of cyber security, is available to talk about what people and businesses need to watch out for to prevent getting scammed and how to protect their sensitive information.

Economic Impact of Comic-Con

This week, San Diego will play host to one of the biggest events on the calendar – Comic-Con. Last year, the event was scaled back due to the Hollywood writers and actors strike, but this year the event will be making a big comeback. So, what could that mean for San Diego? Alan Gin, associate professor of economics, is available to talk about how the convention could impact the local economy.

Middle and High School Students Participate in Cost-Free STEAM Academy at USD
|
The STEAM Team Summer Academy, hosted by the University of San Diego, wraps up this week. It is a two-week quality educational experience for local middle and high school students, who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity, to engage in hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). This program is free for students, thanks to grant support from The San Diego Foundation Level Up program, in partnership with San Diego Unified School District. The University of San Diego also supports the program through strategic initiative funding. The STEAM Team Academy faculty and students will be available to speak throughout the duration of the academy.

USD Employee Competing at Olympic Games
|
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics is a couple of days away, and when the games kick off a USD employee will be among the athletes competing. Ali Gibson, is a budget analyst for USD Athletics and a member of the Puerto Rican Women’s National Basketball Team. Gibson is available via Zoom to talk about her Olympic experience in the lead up to the Olympics in Paris.
