A new Bankrate survey reveals that 54% of U.S. adults say they expect to spend less on travel, dining out or entertainment in 2025, citing recession worries and high credit card debt. Alan Gin, associate professor of economics, is available to break down what this trend means for households, how to prioritize expenses and strategies to stay financially healthy during uncertain economic times.

With recent U.S. tariff policies causing confusion, scammers are exploiting the uncertainty to deceive consumers. Fake websites and phishing schemes are on the rise, falsely claiming to be government entities or tariff-related services. Nikolas Behar, a cybersecurity professor, is available to discuss how consumers can protect themselves from these scams, including tips on identifying fake websites and safeguarding personal information.

Engineering Students Build Off-Road Vehicle and Compete in SAE Competition, Earning 6th Place Title
|
All year long, a group of USD engineering students worked to build an off-road buggy that could tackle muddy obstacles and last for a four-hour endurance race at the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) competition in Arizona. In the ultimate hands-on experience, engineering students learn how to put their engineering classes to use by building a buggy from the ground up or, like this year, improving a previous buggy to get it to work more efficiently. The students placed 6th in the SAE competition earlier this month. A student is available for interviews and b-roll of the buggy is available.
