Free STEAM Event for Children in the Community

A hands-on event to inspire the next generation of innovators is coming to the University of San Diego campus, as it hosts the 9th Annual STEAM Youth & Community Conference this Saturday. Students of all ages and their families are invited to attend this free community event, which includes interactive science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) workshops and activities offered in both English and Spanish. Tarvet Returns From Wimbledon, Discusses Facing Champion Alcaraz

Wimbledon wrapped up over the weekend, and here in San Diego, USD’s Oliver Tarvet is back at it. The rising senior is training at USD as he reflects on his own thrilling run at Wimbledon. This week, Tarvet can talk about his experience, and provide some insight into the game of two-time Wimbledon champion and 2025 runner-up Carlos Alcaraz, who Tarvet squared off with on Centre Court just two weeks ago.

California Becomes First Major Economy Powered by Two-Thirds Clean Energy

This week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California reached a historic milestone: two-thirds of the state’s electricity came from clean energy sources in 2023, the latest year for which data is available. Scott Anders, administrative director of USD’s Energy Policy Initiative Center, works with local leaders and companies to produce clean energy in San Diego. He can speak about the latest news out of Sacramento, what it means for energy and the green economy in California, and the steps being taken to keep pace in San Diego.

USD Professor’s TEDx Talk on Corporate Accountability

This week, TEDx released a talk from USD associate professor of conflict resolution, Sarah Federman. In her talk, Federman explained how being confronted with the tragic history of the Holocaust prompted her to leave her career as a business executive. She discussed how companies involved in similar events can atone for their past and make a commitment to a brighter future.
