Electric Vehicle Sales Soar Before EV Credit Ends – What’s Next?

Recently, Governor Newsom shared that electric vehicles accounted for more than 29% of car sales in the third quarter of 2025, just before the electric vehicle federal tax credit expired in September. Jae Kim, associate professor and chair of industrial and systems engineering, studies electric vehicles and can discuss what the end of the tax credit could mean for EV sales moving forward and what needs to happen to keep the EV momentum going.

The event, part of the school’s ongoing Distinguished Lecture Series, will feature a moderated talk about her work, and the past and future of community organizing. Recent surveys reveal economic uncertainty is forcing Americans to delay major life decisions. 17% are postponing big purchases like homes or cars due to the government shutdown, while 70% of adults 50+ are delaying retirement due to economic concerns. Dan Roccato, clinical professor of finance, is available to discuss how this uncertainty is impacting consumer behavior and share financial strategies for people to best manage their money.
