The Supreme Court issued its final decisions last week on topics ranging from birthright citizenship to campaign finance to executive authority. How did the Justices reach their decisions, what is their significance, and what do they suggest for future cases? Robert Schapiro, dean of USD’s School of Law, is a scholar of constitutional law. A former Supreme Court clerk, Schapiro can discuss the recent SCOTUS decisions, what the decision-making process looked like, and what these rulings mean for Americans looking ahead.

The Nonprofit Institute Shares Data on Local Arts/Culture Nonprofit Health After City Budget Cuts
|
When the City released its budget with major cuts to the arts, The Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego started receiving inquiries from local nonprofits looking for data on the impact of arts/culture nonprofits in the community. With that interest, The Nonprofit Institute created a report, using data they gathered from their annual State of Nonprofits and Philanthropy Annual Report, to share the health of local arts/culture nonprofits. The report found that nearly half of San Diegans reported benefiting from an arts and culture nonprofit while one-third of arts nonprofit leaders reported weak financial health entering 2026, amongst other findings. A representative from The Nonprofit Institute can discuss the report’s findings.

Why do people root for the underdogs? And, what leads basketball players to throw a three-point shot with seconds left in a game? Nadav Goldschmied, professor of psychological sciences, sat down with the "At the Edge of it All" team to share why he decided to pursue a niche career in sports psychology and what he hopes people can gain from his research in underdogs and taking risks in a high-stakes game.
