USD School of Law’s Housing Rights Clinic Helps 120+ Households Facing Eviction in First Year

Since its launch in May 2025, the Housing Rights Clinic's Eviction Negotiation Program has assisted over 120 households facing eviction proceedings with free legal support. In the process, law students get hands-on clinical experience by working directly with tenants at risk of losing their homes. As the new school year begins, 10 law students will be continuing the work of the Eviction Negotiation Program and helping families facing eviction. Alysson Snow, the leader of the Housing Rights Clinic is available to discuss the program and how this pro bono work is keeping San Diegans housed. *Email if interested to coordinate an interview.

San Diego's Inflation Fell Last Month. What Will it Mean for Consumers?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, San Diego's inflation fell by nearly 3% in July. But, what does this drop actually mean for the average consumer? Dan Roccato, clinical professor of finance, can break down why inflation goes up and down and how consumers can benefit from this change by potentially saving more. *Zoom only

KPBS San Diego Book Festival Returns on August 22 

With more than 145 local and national authors participating as speakers and exhibitors, the KPBS San Diego Book Festival will take place again on the University of San Diego campus on August 22 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The free community event for readers of all ages will feature panel discussions with award-winning authors, activities, live entertainment, exhibitors including independent booksellers, local authors, food trucks and more. New this year, mystery, self-help and parenting genres have been added to the list of growing books available at the festival. There is also an expanded footprint across the campus which includes a larger space for kids reading activities. Interviews in English and Spanish available to discuss the event.

At the Edge of It All Podcast

Connecting with the Community over the Joy of Learning

 

Brian Clack, A. Vassiliadis Distinguished Director of the Humanities Center, joined the "At the Edge of it All" podcast to discuss the 10 year anniversary of the University of San Diego's Humanities Center and how the center has encouraged not only students and faculty, but the greater community, to be lifelong learners through their events, research opportunities and free art gallery on campus. Clack also shared how the community is invited to the upcoming KPBS San Diego Book Festival on August 22 that allows readers of all ages to enjoy the joy of reading on the university's campus.
