University of San Diego - President's Postcard

Dear Toreros,

Advent at USD is a beautiful celebration. Traditions, including the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Lessons and Carols, prepare us to receive the light of Christ at Christmas. I love walking campus during this season, especially at dawn and dusk, when holiday lights shine bright. I’m excited that the plaza between Copley Library and the Learning Commons is now known as Sister Thea Bowman Plaza — one of several named spaces intended to make campus more inclusive and welcoming. Kudos to students who voted during midterm elections. Because of you, USD was recently recognized as a “most engaged campus for college voting.” What an extraordinary honor. Finally, a shout out to Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball on incredible seasons. Volleyball continues its championship quest when players take on No. 15 Kentucky in the NCAA Regional Semifinal tonight. Best of luck, ladies!

Wishing all a safe, healthy and joyful holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

James T. Harris III, President
