University of San Diego - President's Postcard

Dear Toreros,

In November, USD hosted several Native American Heritage Month events coordinated by Tribal Liaison Sahmie Wytewa, including a day of activities where faculty and students had the unique opportunity to learn about Kumeyaay history and culture. What a remarkable opportunity it was for those who attended to gain important insight into the Indigenous people that call San Diego home.

I’m so proud to announce that the University of San Diego will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2024 with a series of events that will honor our past, present and future. Since its founding in 1949, USD has prepared generations of Toreros to lead inspired and meaningful lives. To kickoff the celebration, we are hosting the Lighting the Way Forward conference. This unique three-day event will convene thought leaders from around the country to discuss the importance of the contemporary Catholic university.

As we enter the home-stretch of the fall semester, please allow me to wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy holiday season. Study hard for final exams and travel safely, wherever your academic break takes you.

Peace,
Jim
