University of San Diego - President's Postcard

Dear Toreros,

Welcome back to campus! I hope you had a memorable break and that your spring semester is off to a wonderful start. This year, we come together as a community to celebrate a milestone in the history of our beautiful university — our 75th anniversary.

The 75th anniversary celebration began two weeks ago when USD hosted the inaugural Lighting the Way Forward Conference. Roughly 250 thought leaders from more than 40 Catholic universities came together on our campus to discuss the future of Catholic higher education. During the conference, we had the distinct pleasure of honoring Cardinal Robert McElroy with an award recognizing his efforts to promote ‘Care for Our Common Home’, one of our six core values. Cardinal McElroy is a key ally in the work we do as an institution to foster peace, work for justice and lead with love.

This next year will provide us with many opportunities to celebrate our remarkable past as we dream together about our promising future. Together, we will light the way forward.

Peace,
Jim
