I want to wish everyone a blessed and happy Easter. Spring is a time for self-reflection and renewal, and as we return from Spring Break, I hope everyone was able to slow down and take time with family and friends.
I’m invigorated by the growing impact we’re seeing USD have around the globe. Last month, we celebrated our generous donors who support USD scholarships during a special luncheon themed around our top-ranked study abroad programs. USD professor Alberto Pulido, PhD, was recognized by the U.S. Postal Service, which worked with him to create a special collection of stamps celebrating lowrider culture. Finally, we welcomed new Men’s Basketball head coach JR Blount, who made time to visit campus in the middle of yet another deep tournament run with Iowa State. We’re excited for his future with the Toreros.
As we look ahead to the rest of the busy spring semester, I hope you’ll experience all this beautiful season at USD has to offer.
Peace,
Jim

One of my favorite activities is taking morning walks with USD community members in the canyon near campus. Over the years, these walks have given me a chance to get to know members of our community and hear about their experiences, hopes and dreams.
It was a special treat to walk with students from USD’s Honors Program (@honorsusd) last month. These students are applying their talents and creativity to humanity’s urgent challenges, and their drive and ambition give me tremendous hope for the future.
If you are interested in joining me for a morning walk, please reach out to my office at president@sandiego.edu to sign up for a time.
